The burning Inside…..

I have GERD which I take 40mg of Prilosec a day to control. It does a good job. Last year I had the Bravo Study and the High Resolution Esophogeal Motility Study. They found that my stomach acid is very high. I also have a 9.3 cm Hiatal Hernia. What is GERD? Hiatal hernia occurs when the upper part of the stomach moves up into the chest through a small opening in the diaphragm (diaphragmatic hiatus). The diaphragm is the muscle separating the abdomen from the chest. Recent studies show that the opening in the diaphragm helps the support lower end of the esophagus.

Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) is a condition in which the stomach contents (food or liquid) leak backwards from the stomach into the esophagus (the tube from the mouth to the stomach). This action can irritate the esophagus, causing heartburn and other symptoms.
